Hi there!
Here is a batch of photos from a Game of Thrones event held at Warsaw University. I’ve been to the two previous editions and sadly I have to admit that this year’s event… was quite modest. But I had fun nonetheless :)
Enjoy the pics!

This post is a little bit late. There are two reasons:
1) I’ve created a fanpage on Facebook Lurker’s Photo Corner and it has priority when it comes to photos. You can condemn me all you want, but still… life is harsh…
2) I was defending my PhD :) Successfully <3
So, back to the topic. Here are a few batches of photos from PAcon 2015: Planet Armada Conspiracy. The event itself… was small. And it lacked cosplay due to low… well… no interest at all from cosplayers. So no cosplay… and no photostudio. But on the other hand, I was still quite busy and I had my share of fun. I did a few guerilla photoshots outdoors (thanks Morgi!), despite the cold and darkness. I wore a cosplay of Jinto from Crest of the Stars. And I tried Oculus Rift mk2 in Elite: Dangerous…. wearing cosplay from Crest of the Stars <3
So… I'm quite happy :)

Mangafest 2015 and updates
•January 19, 2015 • Leave a CommentHi there! I’ve kick started 2015 with Mangafest – a small, very small, tiny… you get the picture… convention organized by Komikslandia. AND what’s more important, I’ve finally created my facebook fanpage “Lurker’s Photo Corner” dedicated solely to photography. I’m planning on running both the blog and the fanpage, though the content will be a little different. My blog will still host large galleries and non-photo related stuff, while the fanpage will contain trimmed versions of most of the photo galleries + some random stand-alone photos and teasers. So. Like it, share it, have fun! Oh… and the photos :)

Mokon 5
•December 19, 2014 • Leave a CommentHi there!
Here comes this year’s last convention photo batch – at least from me. This time I went to Mokon 5. As there were lots of different photographers and I didn’t organize a studio, I just took a couple of “event” photos (I arrived around 14:00 and spent some time talking to old friends and acquaintances…) and focused on the cosplay competition. The Mokon brand is in a way special for me due to the fact that it (since Mokon 3… maybe… I don’t remember) hosts polish European Cosplay Gathering eliminations. So there is always something to look at, event if the convention itself is… well, even if it does live up to it’s infamous “legend”. Still, I had a good time, even though it was very short (I’m a busy, and recently a very tired person). Enjoy the photos!

I have finally compiled the galleries from Halloween themed manga and anime convention Hellcon: The Riddle of Jack the Ripper. I can’t say much about the convention itself, as I was very busy with my photostudio. The attendance was… average, but the cosplay was clearly understaffed – only 7 groups. One of the shortests cosplays I’ve ever seen, if not the shortest. Still, the performance of Alice: Madness Returns group was brilliant :)
I’m also quite happy with the photos from the studio. I did some experiments and gained valuable experience :3
Enjoy!

Animatsuri 2014 Photostudio

•August 5, 2014 • 2 CommentsHi there!
It’s been a long time since my last post – but there’s an explanation for that. I’ve been busy with my studies, work… and going through the photos from Yakuza themed Animatsuri 2014 A&M convention. It took me over 3 weeks to process just the regular ones :/ $deity! A sad record.
As for the convention itself… The organization was quite good, I cannot say anything bad about it. The merchandise was poor, as usual. Despite the fact that Yatta took almost the entire space on the second floor, the only interesting thing they had was a… shōnen-ai themed artbook (which I bought:P). The attractions… well, I don’t know, because I was constantly taking photos :P I found “my own” fun (^_^) As usual. The main problem was that the weather was rather rainy… so some potential for photos has been wasted and the decision to move the cosplay stage outdoors turned out bad. Not disastrous (thanks to the hard work of the organizers), but still… Some cosplayers were rather angry and my “SuperWhite” background turned “SuperDirty” in no time. Oh, did I tell you that I had my own photostudio? For the first time with a proper background, in a dedicated room, so that I can no longer have any excuses about the equipment. Well, it could be better, but now I’m limited mainly by my skill and time.
Enjoy!
Sessions (three parts)
Cosplay (again, three parts)
Moe Green (a “bonus gallery” :P )
Event & People (two “misc” galleries with everyting else except the photostudio)
BTW >> a colleague of mine – Peter “Tokyo” – has made a short movie (cosplay music video? I think that’s the proper term… it’s his first one, as far as I know…) featuring many of the cosplayers… and me
Animatsuri is HAPPY!
Warsaw Cosplay Walk 2014

It’s been over a month since my last post and honestly… I’m way behind my schedule with some quite important things… But still, such a good weather just couldn’t have gone to waste! So here you go – two batches of photos from Warsaw Cosplay Walk 2014! I did experiment with some of them… just for fun and maybe a little bit for grinding EXP in GIMP ;P
Enjoy!
Game of Thrones @ WU ’14
•April 15, 2014 • Leave a CommentHi there!
To be honest, EZkon was not the only event that took the weekend and sleep away from me… Recently a new season of Game of Thrones was released, making its fandom a little more lively than usual. A small event took place at the Warsaw University – and as there was a cosplay competition, I just had to come. The cosplay photos are… awfull… broken… irreparable. It seems that my choice of a hunting spot (left side of the stairs…) was wrong :/ But on the other hand, a small hall inside the old library is NOT a good place for cosplay. Too little space, awfull lighting, high and uneven ceiling… The event photos are so so… BUT! I had my chance for redemption when the organizers prepared a small photo corner… and it just “happened” that I took my lighting equipment with me :3
Photo corner – some nice photos
Cosplay – a photo-disaster, published only for the sake of completeness
EZkon 2014 – The treasure of Jolly Roger
•April 14, 2014 • Leave a CommentArrrr mates!
Lots of things are happening in my life right now and so I cannot commit too much time to earthly pleasures… BUT I’ve made an exception for EZkon 2014: The treasure of Jolly Roger – a pirate themed convention. Despite a very low attendance (why?!), the event was very enjoyable. I had prepared a handmade (for the first time ever!) pirate costume… and it did its job like a charm :3 But *these* photos are… ehem… not public;P
As for the event itself, the shopping was quite OK (another Saber bought <3 ), at least from a buyer's perspective. The pirate pentathlon was quite fun and – not to boast too much – I did prove myself as a real pirate, arrr! The one prelection that I did attend (about media piracy) was wandering a little bit off-topic, but still worth my time. However, the best aspect of this convention were the people wearing pirate costumes! Some of them were really amazing. I had a great time both taking photos and posing for them.
I'd like to give special thanks to Adrian for cosplaying a WH40K/Pirate Mega Noob and to both Kunio and Wiki-chan for being great mates! I'd also like to thank many others who made the event great – Aldar, Roger, Honorata, Yoruko, Grzegorz, Tuan, Airi, Bartek, Mariusz, Dymek, Celebriana and all those whom I forgot to mention.
Enjoy the photos!
[and pray for a next EZkon in 2015…]
Pirate pentathlon (very few photos, because I was also participating in it ;P)
Warsaw Cosplay Taikai 2 (2014)
•February 16, 2014 • Leave a CommentHi there!
Long time no see… I’ve just finished uploading three batches of photos from Warsaw Cosplay Taikai (2014 02 15) – a small local event organized by Animatsuri, PJWSTK and Japanese Embassy in Poland. I took it easy and – yet again – there weren’t too many cosplayers, so the amount of photos is far from overwhelming. Still, I managed to find a tight-yet-usable spot to set-up my guerilla photo-studio. I hope you will like some of the photos (^_^)
As for me, the event itself was quite enjoyable. Well, I did oversleep for the first interesting (for me at least) prelection and another one turned out rather boring, but overall it was OK. I bought some japanese-learning related stuff, got a Nintendo DS Lite from my friend, met some other friends and of course I indulged in hunting people ;P
Mokon 4
•December 28, 2013 • Leave a CommentHi there!
And yet another batch of photos from an Anime’N’Manga convention – this time Mokon 4, which took place a week ago in Warsaw, right before the Christmas Eve. The photos are delayed because of the holidays and holiday related “responsibilities”. I really like Mokons, mainly due to the fact that they attract lots of cosplay. However, this one was a little bit different for me. I was really tired after PA!con (and the 5k photos that I took….), I knew that there will be a few (hired…) professional photographers, not to mention many skilled hobbyists, and I just needed a break. So I decided to limit the amount of non-cosplay photos taken and simply enjoy the convention, like a regular would. And it was awesome! Mokon 4 did not s**k (despite the ancient curse…) ;P In the meanwhile I took it easy and experimented a little bit with my camera – 99% of the non-cosplay photos are taken without flash (which is unusual for me…) and 100% of the session/cosplay photos were taken in a full manual mode (except for focus and WB). The first cosplay gallery is processed as usual, while the second one is left with darker, deeper colors, at the cost of things “fading” into the darkness… I wonder which you will like better (^_^)
Enjoy and Have a nice trage.. damn, too much Virtue’s Last Reward… Have a Happy New Year (^_^)
Post ECG Sessions – a couple of photos I was asked to take during the chaos after the main event…
Event’N’People – misc stuff…

PAcon 2013 – Photoden
•December 14, 2013 • Leave a CommentHi there!
PA!con 2013 was a busy convention… Once again (well, the second time, actually) I opened my guerilla photo-studio (or photo-den, which seems to be a more appropriate word…). But this time I was a little bit better prepared – I trained with my friend Airi and bought some nice stuff – a double white background (though in practice I can use only one part…), a double black background and 4 radio flash triggers. I also improved my leet Gimp skillz ;P The results are still below what I’m aiming at (and the quality of photos is inconsistent), but I think they are much better than my previous attempt during Animatsuri 2013. Well, see for yourselves (^_^) Postprocessing took me forever.
PAcon 2013
•December 9, 2013 • 1 CommentHi there!
I’ve just finished culling and processing my photos from PAcon 2013 – Popculture Alternative (though mainly Manga’N’Anime) Convention. Lots of work, but also – lots of satisfaction. Despite the fact that I screwed a few things up… But THAT will be covered in another post, probably within a week. Well, back onto the main topic. The convention was organized in the same school that hosted the previous Animatsuri – a much bigger event. PAcon, with less than 1000 participants, didn’t feel crowded at all! And neither did it feel empty… A good balance I would say:) Well, the only drawback was the small cosplay competition, but… That saved me some work;P The toilets were clean and … THERE WAS NO QUEUE right before the start of the attractions! People were coming in batches… It was really weird, because usually people wait a few hours before being let in. I didn’t see the queue and so … I missed the place, so I got a little bit lost, LOL. Maybe the blizzard forecast for saturday frightened some people(^_^) Anyway, I had fun, I saw some amazing cosplay and I can’t say a bad thing about the organization. There was even one, lonely PS4 – a funny sight when all the PS3s around are taken:)
Enjoy the photos!
